The North Walls Indoor Climbing Gym project involved altering the existing warehouse space to accommodate 14m high climbing walls.

To achieve this part of the existing roof was removed and with the aid of 8 new steel columns the central part of the roof was raised to house the fabulous "Walltopia" climbing walls. In addition new reception, cafe and amenities spaces were created.

The project involved attaining council support to the "Change of Use" from a Class 7b Warehouse building to a Class 9b Public Assembly Building. Many consultants were required during this process including Environmental Auditors, Geological Consultants, Fire Engineers as well as Structural,Mechanical Hydraulic, and Electrical engineers. Negotiations with VicTrack was also needed to allow pedestrian and cyclist access directly from the Upfield Bike Path.

The finished product is an inspiring climbing experience and a testament to owner, Sam Percy's vision and tenacity. It has become a well loved community space for climbers of all abilities.

Thanks to all the photographers: Bec Dickinson, Nick Flatly, Julian Goad and Sam Percy.
